What is the Youth Protection Program Learning Management System (LMS)?

 

The LMS manages, tracks and reports the completion of screening, training and other legal documentation required as part of the Diocese of Harrisburg Youth Protection Program. 

 

Act 31 / Act 126 Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse for Mandated Reporters

The Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse: Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania Online Training is a free online self-guided computer course made possible by the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center, Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families, Pennsylvania Children and Youth Administrators and funding from the Children's Justice Act. As you complete the online course, you will learn how to recognize child abuse, how to report abuse, and how to keep the children in your care safe.  

 

What are the benefits to this online format?

*  It contains new and pertinent information.

*  It incorporates recent changes to the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL).

*  It is a free web-based and self-paced course.

*  It is flexible and can be done at the time and place convenient for the user.

 

How can I print my certificate?

*  Please note, a certificate will be available to print upon completion of the course.

*  A copy of this certificate must be presented to the primary parish, mission, school or other institution affiliated with the Dicocese which you represent.

*  It is suggested that you print or save a copy of the certificate for your own personal records. Providing an electronic copy of the certificate to the primary parish, mission, school or other institution affiliated with the Diocese which you represent is the recommended method of submission.

 

If you need to reprint your certificate, you may log back into the University of Pittsburgh site (https://www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu/), re-launch the course and reprint at any time.

Do I have to finish the course in one session?

You do not have to complete the coures in one session.  During any future visits, you will get a pop up message asking if you would like to resume where you left off.  Please click on "Okay" and you will pick up where you ended your session last time.
